Short Description / Purpose of Job
Manage and enable production operations and make appropriate adjustments to deliver agreed production volumes at optimal productivity and cost.
Manage/ leaders the process and lab teams, coaches and guide team members including operation team members, provides process technical direction to ensure desired production is accomplished in conformity of process specifications
In alignment with Snr. Technical Manager, he/ she sets, reviews departmental and individual KPIs/PIs, follow-ups with teams, members and active necessary action plan to correct deviations
Develop new strategies to increase production within safety, health and environmental guidelines.
Recruitment Description / Key Accountabilities
Execute on the production strategy by developing and cascading a production plan in line with the strategy, objectives and plan. Cascade operational goals and long-term plans through effective two-way communication.
Ensure the agreed production volumes and quality is achieved in an efficient and safe manner.
He/ She implements/ drives business systematic approach across all teams and stakeholders
He/ she calls and leads process related investigation and helps the organization to learn and improve by avoiding recurrence of similar issues
He/ She is responsible/ accountable for the equipment best combination to meet optimum desired production/ nomination.
Drive continuous improvement by identify improvement opportunities and implementing improvement solutions.
Implement and manage processes and activities associated with planning, scheduling, measuring, allocating, optimising and reporting production system volumes.
Identify and recommend improvements to support the realization of the production hubs strategy.
Compile and monitor annual budgets including volume, and production budgets to ensure adequate cost control cost.
He/ She MUST constantly review, ensure accuracy of the mass balance and immediately take corrective and preventative actions
Establish and run the operation within agreed envelope conditions ensuring sound management of products, process materials, assets, waste and pollutants.
Manage operations risks by ensuring all risks are identified, analysed and mitigated to acceptable levels in order to maintain the OME's (Operating Model Entity) license to operate.
Apply evidence based SHE (Safety Health and Environment) practices, in alignment with set standards, to ensure safe operations.
Implement Sasol's risk philosophy and enterprise risk management framework.
Contribute to the formulation of workforce planning reports and budgets for the within the function, to optimise staffing and operations.
Foster a work environment that actively develops and encourages employees to achieve their maximum potential and overcome deficiencies through feedback, coaching, on-the-job training, and succession planning program.
Formal Education
University Bachelor’s Degree Chemistry/Processing Engineering
Min Experience
11+ years in production or processing in Chemical Industry/ Aluminium/ extractive/ mining/ metallurgy or related fields (with 2+ years in leadership role)
